Freddy MATA MATUNDU & Larissa DIAKANUA
Freddy Mata Matundu and Larissa Diakanua received the Special Radio Prize for their radio report « Enfants dits sorciers : enfants en danger » broadcast on Radio Top Congo FM in the Democratic Republic of Congo. After his graduation, Freddy MATA became a member of the NGO Canacu, where he initiated and participated in several conferences on the rights of children and women in particular. He has been a journalist reporter at Radio Top Congo FM since 2006. Born in Maputo, in Mozambique, Larissa DIAKANUA has been a journalist at Radio Top Congo FM since 2003. Since April 2009, she Works for the German International Radio, Deutsche Welle. |
Directed in Kinshasa, the audio report is a story that addresses one of the greatest evils threatening Congolese children’s future: being accused of witchcraft. Children are falsely accused of being predators, wizards of bad luck and even vampires. The report traces the origin of the phenomenon, its causes and its consequences. |
